Charlestown, MA According to Related Beal, PickleBOS, a premier pickleball club in Boston, will be coming to the Charlestown Labs campus this winter. The 22,570 s/f facility, located at 440 Rutherford Ave., will be the first permanent indoor pickleball courts in the neighborhood.

The PickleBOS Charlestown location will offer players access to 10 high-tech courts equipped with TVs, iPads, and cameras for live scoring and instant replays. PickleBOS members, guests and local employers will welcome meetings and outings in their event space, designed by leading entertainment and restaurant designer, Studiotyak. The PickleBOS team has also secured partnership with some of Boston’s premier restaurant groups to offer a full menu of food options.

“The addition of PickleBOS reinforces our vision for Charlestown Labs as a vibrant, mixed-use campus that brings energy, innovation, and new experiences to this corner of Charlestown,” said Will Grosvenor, development manager at Related Beal. “We’re excited to welcome PickleBOS to the neighborhood and to add a unique, wellness-focused amenity for the entire community to enjoy.”

PickleBOS currently operates a four-court temporary pop-up facility as they prepare to open two new permanent locations. In addition to Charlestown, PickleBOS will open a location in South Boston this fall. The two facilities will provide members with access to 21 high-tech courts across Boston. PickleBOS Charlestown is close to the MBTA Orange Line’s Community College station and located off I-93 and Rte. 99. The location offers free off-street parking.

“Charlestown offers us an ideal location that can easily welcome both neighborhood residents and players coming from Cambridge, Somerville, and other cities and towns north of the city. Along with our facility in Southie, we expect that Charlestown will help make us synonymous with pickleball in Boston,” said Alex Karsos, co-founder of PickleBOS. “Boston is home for my family along with my business partner, Tom Cibotti. Tom and I set out to bring strong community ties in Boston with a focus on hospitality and service as its core values and we hope to deliver fun and enjoyment from school age children to ‘senior picklers’”

Charlestown Labs, located within the Hood Business Park, includes 6 Bunker Hill St., 420 Rutherford Ave., and 440 Rutherford Ave., offering 166,000 s/f of flexible space for tenants across sectors.

The campus supports a dynamic mix of life science, research, recreation, and community-oriented amenities. PickleBOS will occupy the former City Electric space, as City Electric is relocating to the adjacent 5,000 s/f space at 440 Rutherford Avenue.
