2025 Women in CRE: Magnolia Dow-Moore, Nickerson

Magnolia Dow-Moore
Associate Director, Real Estate PR & Communications
Nickerson

What has been the most rewarding project or deal you’ve worked on in your career, and why? In my previous role, I worked with DVM Housing Partners on the Saige on Fountain project, which was the most rewarding experience of my career. Delivering 40 affordable homeownership units to Roxbury, the team prioritized community voices and ensured residents felt supported and connected to their neighborhood. Today, I am honored to collaborate with DVM again in my role with Nickerson on Blume on the Ave., which will add 30 affordable condominiums in Mattapan.

What drew you to commercial real estate, and what keeps you passionate? What drew me to commercial real estate is the ability to shape connections at every stage, from collaborating with development teams and community partners during permitting to supporting events and local businesses after completion. These projects are more than physical spaces. They represent teams and organizations making a difference in communities, sustainability, and social impact. I am passionate about helping amplify these stories to strengthen their reach and impact.

What’s a challenge you faced early in your career, and how did you overcome it? I entered real estate without formal training, instead bringing a background in communications and writing. I relied on those communications skills while seeking mentorship, actively participating in neighborhood meetings, and building genuine relationships. These experiences helped me quickly gain clarity, develop confidence, and ultimately provide thoughtful, impactful consultation to client-partners.

What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in commercial real estate? Be open to the many possibilities within commercial real estate. There are diverse paths and specialties to explore and finding one you are passionate about can shape a fulfilling career. Get involved early on by joining local business and industry organizations, many of which offer entry-level memberships. These connections provide invaluable opportunities to learn, grow, and build a strong network that will support and guide you throughout your career.
