2025 Women in Construction: Maureen White, Vantage Builders

Maureen White
Project Manager
Vantage Builders

What is one project or achievement in your career that you are most proud of, and how did it impact your organization or community? Vantage Builders recently broke ground on a project for Melmark New England, that will create a live/learn/work campus for adults with autism and developmental disabilities. I’m really excited to be building such a meaningful space for the community. It reminds me of a project for the New England Center and Home for Veterans. We transformed an old building into functional, attractive living spaces, with individual rooms and bathrooms for residents, as well offices. Projects like these make me proud to be in construction because we are directly benefiting the communities we live in.

Who or what has inspired you most in your career, and what advice would you share with the next generation of women entering the A/E/C industry? One of the most impactful experiences in my career was at the very start. I was selected as an intern at a construction company, while attending Columbia University. The firm invested in my growth through mentorship, hands-on experience, and resources, and eventually offered me a full-time job after graduation. I spent two years in estimating before transitioning to project management. My advice: find advocates, build your network, take risks, and embrace opportunities that push you out of your comfort zone. That’s how you grow and develop valuable skills.

What’s your favorite way to recharge or get inspired outside of work? I love skiing, working out, and spending time with my family!

Do you have a hidden talent or a surprising fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know? I played Varsity Field Hockey in college and continue to play on club teams!
