Jonathan Garland
President + Founder
JGE Architecture + Design

Three skills that you use every day in your position:

Compartmentalization, prioritization, and humility.

Best book, podcast, or app for aspiring leaders:

I am a firm believer that there is no single “best” source for aspiring leaders. Leaders should be open to consuming varying types and sides of content, and then drawing their conclusions from there.

Best advice for new leaders in 10 words or less:

Believe in yourself, love what you do, and monetize it.

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?

Leading our 566 Columbus Ave. project, where the South End’s Harriet Tubman House once stood, is my proudest recent accomplishment. Beyond design work, it involved mediating between the developer’s goals and a community deeply impacted by the site’s legacy. Through active listening, transparent communication, and trust-building, I ensured the community felt respected and included. Honoring commitments and fostering genuine relationships created a path for meaningful, shared progress in this complex endeavor.

What makes this nominee an Industry Leader?

As the leader of JGE, he blends architecture and development seamlessly, delivering innovative, community-focused solutions. His dedication to quality and fostering collaboration sets him apart as an influential industry leader.” - Andres Bernal, design principal, JGE Architecture + Design.
